These stores are supported by three distribution centers that undertake deliveries on behalf of local suppliers who are not able to offer a direct delivery service to the stores and distribute imported goods. The company trades in basic goods required on a daily basis by offering commodity products (sugar, bread flour, salt, cement, and roof sheeting) at low prices.


The wider range of products includes soaps, matches, builder’s hardware, batteries, housewares, milk, bicycles, agricultural inputs, refreshments, cigarettes, sweets, biscuits, cooking oils, rice, soya protein, OTC medicines and textiles. These products generally make up most of the wallet spend in the rural areas with the exception of maize flour and meat/fish. Market leadership has been gained in a lot of the stocked product categories.


As the market leader, Chipiku Stores has become the principal distributor for most local manufacturers of products in which the company trades.The company utilizes a combination of simplified systems used in rural areas by branch staff and regional managers.
