Farmers Organisation Ltd (FOL) was registered in Malawi in 1980 and is externally owned by JSE listed group AECI. In 2020 we proudly celebrated 40 years of service to the Malawi Agriculture sector. It was established initially to service the sugar industry which it did successfully for ten years. Since 1990, the Company has expanded its area of operation to include all crops in the country and is now the largest supplier of Crop Protection Products, Micro Nutrients, and Liquid fertilizers in Malawi.

The company also supply an extensive range of Spraying Equipment under the Jacto Brand which includes Knapsack sprayers, Tractor mounted and Tractor trailed Mist Blowers. The Company continues to service the sugar industry but now provides inputs for Tobacco, Tea, Cotton, Coffee, Macadamia, Maize, Rice, Vegetables, Groundnuts, Bananas, Paprika, Soya, Sunflower, Pigeon peas, and other Legume crops. We also service the Animal Health Industry and Environmental Health Sector, particularly the Malaria Vector Control Program.

In 2015 the South African company Nulandis www.nulandis.com, a division of AECI www.aeciworld.com, entered into an agreement and acquired 100% of Farmers Organisation Ltd. Farmers Organisation has a staff complement of 49 headed by the Managing Director and a Management Committee which are supported by all local staff who occupy the other senior positions in the Company, such as Finance Manager, Sales Manager, Operations Manager, Technical and Product Development Manager, Marketing Manager, Business Development Manager, Territory Managers, Warehousing Managers, and Branch Managers.

The Company’s Head Office and main warehouse is in Makata, Blantyre and we also have a retail outlet in Blantyre and a Sales and Distribution Depot in Mzuzu and in Kanengo, Lilongwe. Our main avenue to the market is through distribution arrangements with Agricultural Trading Co. Ltd, SFFRFM, Agora, Farmers World, Kulima Gold, CNFA trained Agro-Dealers and AISAM trained Agro-Dealers. The Estate Sector is mainly serviced direct or through the tender process with support backup by our Technical expertise.

We also invest in human resource development such as recognizing and sponsoring the overall Top Student and the Best Tobacco Production & Management student at the AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH & EXTENSION TRUST (ARET) Mwimba College of Agriculture.

The Company has been involved in considerable development work over the years particularly in Tobacco, Sugar, Maize, Cotton, Macadamia, Legumes, Coffee, and Malaria Vector Control programs. This development work has been carried out in conjunction with Research Scientists from the Department of Research in the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Food Security, and Ministry of Health respectively. Our development work has resulted in the creation of our “Nyonga® Pack” range of crop-specific input packs for smallholder farmers.

The results achieved through our “Nyonga” Pack range of user-friendly, low toxic crop inputs go a long way towards achieving the safe use and handling goals of the Malawi Government and the International Community. The Company has shown through its “Nyonga®” crop specific packs that safe technology exists to enable the country to achieve food security in the short term and further achieve production levels that would enable the country to increase its export market and thereby earn valuable foreign exchange.
